Mr.LALROKHUMA PACHUAU
Fifty-seven-year-old Pachau, who hails from Mizoram, is a 1979-batch IPS officer of Karnataka cadre. Pachau is described by his predecessor as a “noble man”.|
Starting his career as assistant superintendent of police (ASP) in Madhugiri subdivision of Tumkur district on February 9, 1980, he moved to Gulbarga subdivision in 1981. He was first posted in 1982 as district police chief in Karwar. Among the prominent posts he has held is that of Lokayukta SP, DIG of state intelligence and additional commissioner of Bangalore police. Deputed to his home-state in 1988, he returned to hold the post of additional director of Karnataka Lokayukta in 2005-07 . He was Mizoram police chief since 2007 till he returned to his cadre state earlier this year.
Mr.Pachuau had been conferred with various medals like :
1. Mizoram Police(Special Duty) Medal 1990;
2. Indian Police Medal for Meritorious Service 1996 and
3. President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service 2004.
PROFESSOR LALTLUANGLIANA KHIANGTE
Professor Laltluangliana Khiangte is a well-known playwright-dramatist, poet, scholar-critic, essayist, biographer and folklorist from the State of Mizoram. He has taken life as known to the Mizo tribal society as his subject and fictionalized it, thus instituting a different genre especially in the field of playwriting. He has not only achieved distinction of being recognized as a playwright and poet but is also one of the most prominent writers and folklorists of North East India. He has authored, co-authored and translated many books in English, Mizo and Hindi and has received many awards for his remarkable contribution to the development and growth of Mizo language and literature such as:
1. Awarded 1st. Prize in State Level Drama Writing,Competition in
1990
2. Awarded Ph.D. in 1991 (Literature-Drama), NEHU.
3. Awarded Book of the Year-1997 in Mizoram.
4. -Awarded D.Litt. in 1999 (Folklore), IUW.
5. -Awarded Lelte Best Writer of Mizoram in 2001, 2002, 2003
6. -Awarded Rashtriya Lok Bhasha Samman in 2003
7. -Awarded Distinguished Playwright Award in 2004
8. -Awarded Bharat Adivasi Samman – 2005
9. -Awarded Padma Shri in Literature & Education in 2006
10. -Awarded K.Zawla Award in Literature in 2007
11. -Awarded Khuangchera Award in 2008.
