I would like to thank my mentor and master,
Grandmaster MH Abid for all his support and teachings; who promoted me to the
status of ‘national coach’. “When you enter the ring or when you fight in the street,
you must come out with minimum injury, then you can say that you are a good
fighter,” is his paternal advice to me. He also taught me to to fight cool, and
that muay thai, being based on scientific rules of the anatomy of the body is
one of the best fighting system in the world… Also thanks to the almighty God
and Mr. Daniel Isaac (CEO of SFL-India’s only professional MMA league) who has
been like a big brother and mentor for me in the MMA world…
Me and two of my
MMA students – Deng Thanchhunga & Zorammawia from Dynamic Fight &
Fitness Association Pvt. Ltd., Mizoram won the first ever professional bout
amongst the Mizos in Mixed Martial Arts (Known to be one of the most advanced and
brutal game in the world).
MUAY THAI is a combat sport from the muay martial arts of
Thailand that uses stand-up striking along with various clinching techniques. This
physical and mental discipline which includes combat on foot is known as
"the art of eight limbs" because it is characterized by the combined
use of fists, elbows, knees, shins and feet, being associated with a good
physical preparation that makes a full-contact fight very efficient Muay
Thai became popular in the sixteenth century whereof the first commercial Muay
Thai gym outside Thailand was founded in 1978 in Curitiba,Brazil.
Muay Thai, like boxing and various forms of kickboxing, is
recognized as a very effective striking base within MMA, and
is very widely practiced among mixed martial artists. Fighters (some of whom
have won titles) such as Anderson Silva, Benson Henderson, Maurício Rua, Wanderlei Silva, Thiago
Silva, Gina Carano and Cristiane Santos employ a broad range of tactics borne of Muay Thai. Countless
other mixed martial artists have trained in the art and it is often taught at
MMA gyms as is BJJ and Wrestling.
