NORTH EAST MIXED
MARTIAL ARTS SEMINAR SUCCESSFULLY CONCLUDED
JSJ FitPro MMA & Fitness
center successfully organized a Mixed Martial Arts and Muay Thai Boran seminar from
8th to 12th December 2015. The resource person for the
event was Mr. Samuel Lalrozâma Hmar of
Mizoram, who is also the MMA National working committee member and North East India MMA Chief Delegate, plus the
National Technical Director in Muay Thai Boran.
The seminar was by attended by
three districts of Mizoram- Aizawl, Lunglei and Kolasib, plus two North East
states of Meghalaya and Assam. This seminar was supported by the North East
India Mixed Martial Arts Association (NEIMA) and Muay Boran Association of
India (MBAI). NEIMA is the approved body of the largest and oldest MMA
organization in India, with permission from the sports Ministry, Central Govt.
to host MMA events in India. The seminar was conducted in Chhinga Veng Comminty
Hall, Aizawl, and was mainly done to promote one of the fastest growing
entertainment sports of our times – MMA.
This event was concluded with a
light sparring session in order to give experience to the players which was
also used as a base for the selection of players for the upcoming AIMMAA
National MMA tournament in January at Mumbai. JSJ FitPro has announced that it
will be sponsoring five people for this event. And also, there will be a big
MMA league based in Mizoram soon, starting from February 2016, for which an MMA
cage has been ordered from Mumbai, and is on the way. A referee and judge
refresher course was also conducted by international referee Mr. Samuel. The NEIMA
Sr. Vice President- Mr. Biswajit Sarkar was present at the event. Apart from
him other officials from the NE were Subhajit Acharjee, Sagnick Gupta, Bipon
Modak, Palash Hazarik and Cores Marwein. From Mizoram, Deng Thanchhunga,
Zorammawia, Ngurlianzuala Sailo, Michael Ruatfela Ralte and official doctor Dr.
Chhana were present. Grading exam approved by the MBAI and world body (WMBF
& KMA) was also held and conducted by Mr. Samuel. The closing ceremony was
presided by Dr. Jeremy Pautu, the brother of the JSJ FitPro owner Dr. Joel, who
gave away the certificates. There was also an introduction to the Sport
MMA: a sport format of MMA which allows controlled strikes [Light and Semi Contact]
as opposed to the ‘full contact’ nature of exiting amateur and professional MMA fights.
Sport MMA provides a platform for kids and teenagers [both male and female] to
train within a safe environment of the sport while training in all the
different aspects of real MMA namely striking, takedowns and ground fighting.
This is the brainchild of the national MMA commissioner of AIMMAA Mr. Daniel Isaac.
JSJ FitPro gym is the headquarters
gym of the Mizoram State MMA Association (MISMA), located in Khatla, Aizawl.
They have expressed their sincere effort to do their best to promote the youths
of Mizoram and the whole of NE at the national and international level, upto
the professional events in MMA and Muay. MMA is in full swing in India under AIMMAA with a great national coach Alan Fenandez.
