Wai Kru ceremony

Wai Kru (Wai=respect; Kru=teacher) ceremony: demonstration of a pupil's respect & gratitude to his teacher in submission to the teaching & training, at the 12th World WaiKru Ceremony, 2016, Thailand. Khawvela MuayThai hotu lu ber leh thiamna hlan chhawngtu GM Woody hnen ațangain 13th khan dawng lai (India rama, Pathian zara, mi 4 chauh hemi dinhmun thleng thei zingah ka tel ve ta).

It’s an honor to be a student of GrandMaster Chinawut Sirisompan (GM Woody); blessing me with the Red-Yellow (12th Khan-Kru rank) Mongkon/Mangala (traditional Thai head band made of special cotton yarn), which I previously achieved from my teacher- GM Kevin (1 of the only 2 non-Thai GM in the world).

GM Woody is one of the pioneer to bring MuayThai Boran to the west & first to introduce amateur Muay Thai/Boran internationally by organizing amateur world championships since 1996. Setting up a curriculum with Grandmasters from Thailand which is now recognized by the Thai government, Ministry of Sport & Tourism and department of physical education. He is currently the:
1. Chairman of Kru MuayThai Association [The only association that register kru (master, teacher ) worldwide, recognized by Ministry Of Culture, Thailand];
2. President of World Muay Boran Federation;
3. Deputy Director of Muay Thai Conservation Centre (national stadium Bangkok, Thailand).
_________________
'Kru' is a Thai word which means the person who teaches or passes on knowledge to pupils (sid). They are knowledge able, full of perseverance. They practice high moral standards in their way of life, leading very respectable lives. Unlike as in some other Martial Arts over the last few years, where people have reached a certain Level and then Granted themselves dubious Titles, Tradition still plays a very important role in Muay Thai and the candidates for this Title must have the full backing of a Committee of the current Masters as well as Representatives of the Department of Physical Education, Thailand.

We as Muay Thai Teachers or Instructors have a duty to our students and Society in general to help teach younger generations all the traditional values so that they can contribute to society themselves, as well as teaching them all the pure techniques of Muay Thai, plus self control, discipline & most of all respect are all essential elements of this. Generally speaking, one should not show anger or irritation, or offer blunt criticism and applaud the quality of - 'Jai Yen' which literally means 'Cool Heart'.

Thanks to Indian MBAI president Kru Prasenjit for all his support and guidance...
